Then Abraham breathed his last and died at a good old age, an old man and full of years; and he was gathered to his people.


Now King David was old and advanced in years, and they covered him with clothes, but he could not get warm.


For David said, “The Lord, the God of Israel, has given rest to His people, and He dwells in Jerusalem forever.


Now these are the sons of Israel according to their number, the heads of fathers’ houses, the commanders of thousands and hundreds, and their officers who ministered to the king in all matters concerning the divisions, which came and went, month by month throughout all the months of the year, to each division of twenty-four thousand:


And Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the City of David. Asa his son then reigned in his place. In his days the land was quiet for ten years.


And he also removed all the high places and incense altars in the cities in Judah. And the kingdom was at rest under Asa.


So the kingdom of Jehoshaphat was quiet, because his God gave him rest on all sides.


He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; He burns the chariot in the fire.


As the cattle which go down into the valley, the Spirit of the Lord caused them to rest, so You led Your people, to make Yourself a glorious name.


He said to them, “I am one hundred and twenty years old today. I can no longer come and go. Also, the Lord has said to me, ‘You may not cross over the Jordan.’


So Joshua took the whole land according to all that the Lord had said to Moses. Joshua gave it to Israel as an inheritance according to their allotted portions by their tribes. Then the land rested from war.


Now Joshua was old and well advanced in years. The Lord said to him, “You are old and advanced in years, but very much of the land still remains to be possessed.


The Lord gave them rest all around, according to all that He swore to their fathers. Not a man among their enemies stood before them, and the Lord delivered all their enemies into their hands.


Now the Lord your God has given rest to your brothers, as He had said to them. So now, turn and go to your homes, to the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of the Lord gave you on the other side of the Jordan.


And now, behold, the king walks before you, but I am old and gray-headed. As for my sons, they are with you. But I have walked before you from my childhood to this day.
