Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, approximately four hundred men, and said to them, “Shall I go against Ramoth Gilead to battle, or shall I wait?” And they said, “Go up, for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king.”


He went with Joram the son of Ahab to the war against Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth Gilead, and the Arameans struck Joram.


Then on the other side of the Jordan opposite Jericho, to the east of the Jordan, from the tribe of Reuben they were given Bezer in the wilderness with its outlands, Jahzah with its outlands,


And from the tribe of Gad, they received Ramoth in Gilead with its outlands, Mahanaim with its outlands,


all the cities of the plain, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, as far as Salekah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.


Bezer in the wilderness in the plateau of the Reubenites, and Ramoth in Gilead of the Gadites, and Golan in Bashan of the Manassites.


They selected Kedesh in Galilee in the hill country of Naphtali, Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron) in the hill country of Judah.


These were the cities designated for all the Israelites and resident foreigners living among them, to which anyone who killed someone inadvertently could flee and not die at the hand of the avenger of blood until he stood before the congregation.


From the half-tribe of Manasseh they gave to the descendants of Gershon (one of the Levite clans): Golan in Bashan (a refuge city for people who committed manslaughter) and Be Eshterah, together with the grazing lands of each: two cities.


From the tribe of Reuben they gave Bezer, Jahaz,


From the tribe of Gad they gave Ramoth in Gilead (a refuge city for people who committed manslaughter), Mahanaim,
