As the gates of Jerusalem began to cast the evening shadow before the Sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened until after the Sabbath. Some of my servants I stationed at the gates so that there would be no loads brought in on the Sabbath day.


Therefore, your gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day or night, so that men may bring to you the wealth of the nations, and that their kings may be brought.


In those days and at that time, says the Lord, the iniquity of Israel will be sought for, and there shall be none. And the sins of Judah, but they shall not be found; for I will pardon those whom I leave as a remnant.


By the river upon its bank, on this side and on that side, shall grow all kinds of trees for food, whose leaf shall not fade nor shall its fruit fail. They shall bring forth fruit according to their months, because their water issues out of the sanctuary. And their fruit shall be for food and their leaves for medicine.”


Now the woman had taken the two men and had hidden them. She said, “Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they were from.


Yet she had brought them up to the roof. She hid them in the stalks of flax that she had spread out on the roof.


So the men chased after them on the road to the Jordan as far as the fords. They shut the gate as soon as the pursuers went out after them.


Its gates shall never be shut by day, for there shall be no night there.


When Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, “He is sick.”
