1 Then Joshua son of Nun sent two men out from Shittim to spy, saying, “Go see the land, especially Jericho.” So they went, and they came to the house of a prostitute named Rahab. They spent the night there.

While Israel dwelt in Shittim, the people began to commit harlotry with the women of Moab.


They camped by Jordan, from Beth-jeshimoth to Abel Shittim in the plains of Moab.

“Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.

By faith the prostitute Rahab, when she received the spies with peace, did not perish with those who did not believe.

The king of Jericho was told, “Behold, men of Israel came here tonight to spy out the land.”

In the morning Joshua got up early; then he and all the Israelites set out from Shittim and came to the Jordan. They stayed there before crossing over.


The Israelites camped in Gilgal and kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month in the evening on the plains of Jericho.


The descendants of Joseph sent spies into Bethel (the former name of the city was Luz).


The five men who went to spy out the land of Laish said to their brothers, “Did you know that in these houses are an ephod, household idols, a carved image, and a metal idol? Now think about what to do.”


The five men who went to spy out the land went in and took the carved idol, ephod, household idols, and the metal idol. The priest was standing at the entrance to the gate with the six hundred fully armed men.


So the Danites sent out from their families five valorous men from Zorah and Eshtaol in order to spy out and explore the land. They said to them, “Go, explore the land.” They came to the hill country of Ephraim, to the house of Micah, and they spent the night there.
