12 So now, give me this hill country that the Lord spoke about on that day. That day you heard that the Anakites live there in large, fortified cities. Perhaps the Lord will be with me, and I will drive them out, as the Lord said.”

Perhaps the Lord your God will hear all the words of the Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria, his master, has sent to taunt the living God and will rebuke the words that the Lord your God has heard, and you might lift up a prayer for the remnant that are left.”


And Asa cried out to the Lord his God, and said, “Lord, it is nothing with You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power. Help us, O  Lord our God, for we trust in You, and in Your name we come against this multitude. O  Lord, You are our God. Let no man prevail against You.”


For they did not take possession of the land by their own sword, nor did their own arm save them; but it was Your right hand, and Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, because You favored them.


With God we shall do valiantly, for it is He who will tread down our enemies.


However, the people are strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are fortified and very great, and also we saw the sons of Anak there.


And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come from the giants, and in our eyes we were like grasshoppers, and so we were in their eyes.”


The Lord said to Moses, “Do not fear him because into your hand I have given him, and all his people, and his land, and you will do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon.”


What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?


Where shall we go up? Our brothers have discouraged our hearts, saying, ‘The people are greater and taller than we. The cities are great and walled up to heaven. And moreover, we have seen the sons of the Anakites there.’ ”


Hear, O Israel! You are to cross over the Jordan today, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than you, great cities fortified up to heaven,


Understand therefore today that the Lord your God is He who goes over before you as a consuming fire. He shall destroy them and shall bring them down before you, so that you drive them out and destroy them quickly, as the Lord has spoken to you.


I can do all things, because of Christ who strengthens me.

Caleb drove out from there three Anakites: Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, descendants of Anak.


They gave Hebron to Caleb, as Moses had said, and he drove out the three sons of Anak.


Jonathan said to the young man bearing his armor, “Come, and let us cross over to the garrison of these uncircumcised. Perhaps the Lord will work for us, for the Lord is not limited to save by many or by few.”
