1 These are the kings on the east side of the Jordan, from the River Arnon to Mount Hermon and all the eastern Arabah, whom the Israelites struck down to take over their land:

Geber the son of Uri in the country of Gilead, the country of Sihon king of the Amorites and of Og king of Bashan. He was the only officer who was in that region.


It is like the dew of Hermon, descending upon the mountains of Zion; for there the Lord commanded the blessing, life forevermore.


and gave their land as a heritage, for His mercy endures forever;


The north and the south, You have created them; Tabor and Hermon rejoice in Your name.


For it shall be that as a wandering bird cast out of the nest, so the daughters of Moab shall be at the fords of Arnon.


From there they journeyed and camped on the other side of Arnon, which is in the wilderness that comes out of the borders of the Amorites, for Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.


Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, saying,


Israel defeated him with the edge of the sword and possessed his land from Arnon to Jabbok, all the way to the border of the Ammonites, because the border of the Ammonites was strong.


We will not inherit with them on the other side of the Jordan or beyond, because our inheritance fell to us on this side of the Jordan to the east.”


We will cross over, armed before the Lord into the land of Canaan, so the possession of our inheritance on this side of the Jordan may be ours.”


Moses gave to the Gadites, to the Reubenites, and to half the tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land with the cities within the borders, the cities of the surrounding land.


“Arise, set out on your journey, and cross the River Arnon. Behold, I have given Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land into your hand. Begin to possess it and contend with him in battle.


Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to fight at Jahaz.


Then we turned and went up the way to Bashan, and Og, the king of Bashan, came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.


This is the law which Moses set before the Israelites.


on this side of the Jordan, in the valley over against Beth-peor, in the land of Sihon, king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon, whom Moses and the Israelites struck down, after they had come out of Egypt.


from Aroer, which is by the edge of the River Arnon, even as far as Mount Sion (that is, Hermon),


until the Lord has given your brothers rest, as He has given you, and they also have possessed the land that the Lord your God is giving to them. Then you may return to your own land and possess what Moses the servant of the Lord gave you on the east side of the Jordan where the sun rises.”


From Mount Halak to Seir, and as far as Baal Gad in the Lebanon Valley under Mount Hermon: All their kings he captured, struck down, and killed.


to the Canaanites in the east and in the west, the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites in the hill country, and the Hivites at Mount Hermon in the land of Mizpah.


With the other half-tribe of Manasseh, Reuben and Gad took their inheritance that Moses gave to them on the east side of the Jordan, as Moses the servant of the Lord had given them:


Now the Lord your God has given rest to your brothers, as He had said to them. So now, turn and go to your homes, to the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of the Lord gave you on the other side of the Jordan.


“They went into the wilderness, around the lands of Edom and Moab. They went east of the land of Moab and set up camp on the other side of the River Arnon. They did not cross the boundary of Moab, for the River Arnon was the boundary of Moab.
