But he went a day’s journey into the wilderness and came and sat down under a juniper tree and asked that he might die, saying, “It is enough! Now, O  Lord, take my life, for I am not better than my fathers.”


I will gather the remnant of My flock out of all countries wherever I have driven them and bring them again to their folds, and they shall be fruitful and increase.


but, “As the Lord lives who brought up and led the descendants of the house of Israel out of the north country and from all countries where I had driven them.” Then they will dwell in their own land.


I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will turn away your captivity and gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back into the place from where I caused you to be carried away captive.


For he has sent to us in Babylon, saying, “This captivity will be long; build houses and dwell in them, and plant gardens and eat their fruit.”


Then all the Jews returned out of all places wherever they were driven and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah at Mizpah, and gathered very much wine and summer fruits.


Thus says the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel: You have seen all the calamity that I have brought upon Jerusalem and upon all the cities of Judah. Behold, this day they are a desolation, and no man dwells in them,


Therefore My fury and My anger was poured out and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are ruined and desolate, as it is this day.


Thus says the Lord of Hosts: They will thoroughly glean the remnant of Israel as a vine. Turn back your hand as a grape gatherer into the baskets.


“O Lord, righteousness belongs to You, but to us shame of face, as it is this day, to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to all Israel, who are near and who are far off, through all the countries wherever You have driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against You.


I will scatter you among the nations and I will draw out a sword after you. And your land shall be desolate and your cities a waste.


Hear this word that the Lord has spoken against you, O Israelites, against the whole family I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying:


Therefore, Lord, take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live.”


Therefore, thus says the Lord: Behold, I am devising disaster against this family, from which you cannot remove your necks; and you will not walk haughtily, for it will be a time of calamity.


When all these things happen to you, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before you, and you remember them among all the nations, where the Lord your God has driven you,


If any of you are driven out to the outmost parts of heaven, from there will the Lord your God gather you, and from there He will get you.


They said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us, and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb,


In those days men will seek death but will not find it. They will desire to die, but death will elude them.
