In the spring of the year, the time when the kings go out to battle, David sent out Joab and his officers, all of Israel with him. They brought to ruin the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah, but David remained in Jerusalem.


Let Mount Zion rejoice; let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of Your judgments.


Zion hears and is glad, and the daughters of Judah rejoice because of Your judgments, O  Lord.


But they shall swoop down on the slopes of the Philistines towards the west; they shall plunder the sons of the east together; they shall lay their hand on Edom and Moab, and the Ammonites shall obey them.

Appoint a way for the sword to come to Rabbah of the Ammonites and to Judah in Jerusalem the fortified.


You, profane wicked prince of Israel, whose day has come in the time of the punishment of the end,


So I will kindle a fire against the wall of Rabbah, and it will devour its fortresses, with a war cry on the day of battle, with a tempest on the day of the whirlwind.


Those of the Negev shall possess Mount Esau, and those of the Shephelah the land of the Philistines. They shall possess the fields of Ephraim and the fields of Samaria, and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.


And if you go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresses you, then you will blow an alarm with the trumpets, and you will be remembered before the Lord your God, and you will be saved from your enemies.


Israel took all these cities, and Israel lived in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all its villages.


You must gather all the spoils of it into the middle of the street and burn the city with fire along with all the spoils within it for the Lord your God, and it will be a heap forever. It must not be rebuilt.


(For only Og, king of Bashan, remained of the remnant of the Rephaim. Behold, his bed was a bed of iron. Is it not in Rabbah of the Ammonites? It is nine cubits long and four cubits wide, according to the cubit of a man.)


In Issachar and Asher, Manasseh was assigned districts: Beth-shan, Ibleam, Dor, En-dor, Taanach, Megiddo, Naphoth, and their respective villages.


The descendants of Joseph said, “The hill country is not enough for us, and all the Canaanites living in the plains have iron chariots, both those in Beth-shan and the Jezreel Valley.”
