Canaan was the father of Sidon his firstborn and Heth,


Pathrusites, Kasluhites (from whom came the Philistines), and the Caphtorites.


God will not withdraw His anger. The proud helpers bow down beneath Him.


The Lord laughs at him, for He sees that his day is coming.


And what will you do in the day of punishment and in the desolation which shall come from afar? To whom will you flee for help, and where will you leave your wealth?


Wail, O gate. Cry, O city. Melt away, O Philistia, all of you; for smoke shall come from the north, and there is no straggler in his ranks.


So the inhabitants of this coastland shall say in that day, ‘Behold, such is our hope, where we flee for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria! And how shall we escape?’ ”


“Then the Assyrian shall fall by the sword that is not of man, and the sword not of man shall devour him. So he shall not escape the sword, and his young men shall become forced laborers.


For this is the day of the Lord God of Hosts, a day of vengeance, so that He may avenge Himself of His adversaries. And the sword will devour; and it will be satiated and made drunk with their blood; for the Lord God of Hosts has a slaughter in the north country by the Euphrates River.


You, profane wicked prince of Israel, whose day has come in the time of the punishment of the end,


while they see vanity for you, while they divine a lie to you to bring you upon the necks of the wicked who are slain, whose day has come in the time of the punishment of the end.


therefore thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will stretch out My hand against the Philistines and will cut off the Kerethites and destroy the remnant of the seacoast.


They shall know that I am the Lord when I have set a fire in Egypt and when all her helpers are destroyed.


The time has come, the day has drawn near. Do not let the buyer rejoice, or the seller mourn, for wrath is against all their multitude.


The days of punishment have come; the days of recompense have come. Israel knows! The prophet is a fool; the man of the spirit is insane, because of your great iniquity and great hatred.


Are you not like the Cushites to Me, O Israelites? says the Lord. Did I not bring Israel up from the land of Egypt, but also the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Arameans from Kir?


For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.


And the Avvites, who lived in villages as far as Gaza, the Caphtorites, who came out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and lived in their place.)


When Phinehas the priest, the leaders of the congregation, and the heads of the Israelite clans who were with him heard what the descendants of Reuben, Gad, and Manasseh said, it pleased them.
