their arrows are sharp and all their bows bent; their horses’ hooves will seem like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind.


Come up, O horses, and rage, O chariots! And let the mighty men come forth: the Cushites and the Libyans who handle the shield, and the Lydians who handle and bend the bow.


They will hold the bow and the lance; they are cruel and will not show mercy. Their voice shall roar like the sea; and they shall ride on horses, everyone put in array, like a man to the battle, against you, O daughter of Babylon.


The snorting of his horses was heard from Dan; the whole land trembled at the sound of the neighing of his strong ones. For they have come and have devoured the land and all that is in it, the city, and those who dwell in it.


They shall come against you with weapons, chariots and wagons, and with an assembly of peoples. They shall set themselves against you on every side with small and large shields and helmet. And I will set the judgment before them, and they shall judge you according to their customs.


The chariots run wildly through the streets, they rush to and fro in the open areas; their appearance is like torches, they dash to and fro like lightning.


Nineveh is like a pool whose waters run away. “Halt! Halt!” they cry, but no one turns back.


They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots with many horses running to battle.


Then horses’ hooves pounded, the galloping, galloping of his steeds.
