Go through, go through the gates. Prepare the way of the people; build up, build up the highway. Remove the stones; lift up a standard over the peoples.


Behold, the sound of the report has come, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah desolate and a den of jackals.


Now therefore speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying: Thus says the Lord: Behold, I am shaping disaster against you and devising a plan against you. Repent now, everyone from his evil way, and make your ways and your deeds good.


Afterwards, says the Lord, I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah and his servants and the people and such as are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies and into the hand of those who seek their life. And he will strike them with the edge of the sword. He will not spare them or have pity or mercy.


I will prepare destroyers against you, everyone with his weapons; and they shall cut down your choice cedars and cast them into the fire.


behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, says the Lord, and Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, My servant, and will bring them against this land and its inhabitants, and against all these surrounding nations; I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, a hissing, and perpetual desolations.


How long shall I see the standard and hear the sound of the trumpet?


Declare among the nations and proclaim, and set up a standard; do not conceal it, but say, Babylon has been captured. Bel has been humiliated. Marduk has been broken in pieces; her idols have been humiliated; her images have been broken in pieces.


A noise of battle is in the land, and great destruction.


Set up the standard against the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, set up the watchmen, prepare the ambushes. For the Lord has both devised and done that which He spoke against the inhabitants of Babylon.


Set up a standard in the land, blow the trumpet among the nations, prepare the nations against her, call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashkenaz; appoint a captain against her. Cause the horses to come up as the rough locusts.


A sound of an outcry comes from Babylon, and great destruction from the land of the Chaldeans,


O sons of Benjamin, gather yourselves to flee from the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a sign of fire in Beth-haccherem; for disaster appears out of the north, and great destruction.


Thus says the Lord: Behold, a people comes from the north country, and a great nation will be raised from the remote parts of the earth.


He cried out also in my ears with a loud voice, saying, “Cause those who have charge over the city to draw near, even every man with his destroying weapon in his hand.”


And behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate which lies toward the north, each with his battle weapon in his hand. And one man among them was clothed with linen with a writer’s case by his side. And they went in and stood beside the bronze altar.


On that day, says the Lord, a cry will be heard from the Fish Gate, a wail from the Second Quarter, and a loud crash from the hills.


The one with the black horses is going toward the north country, the white ones are going after them, while the dappled ones are going toward the south country.”
