Then he looks at men and says, ‘I have sinned and perverted what was right, and it did not profit me.’


He who walks with integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways will be found out.


The folly of man subverts his way, and his heart rages against the Lord.


he has gone up to the temple and to Dibon, the high places, to weep. Moab shall wail over Nebo and over Medeba; on all their heads shall be baldness, and every beard cut off.


Because you have forgotten the God of your salvation and have not been mindful of the rock of your strength, therefore you plant pleasant plants and set them with vine slips of a strange god;


Of whom were you afraid or fearful when you lied and you did not remember Me, nor give Me a thought? Have I not held My peace for a long time so that you do not fear Me?


The destroyers have come upon all high places through the wilderness, for the sword of the Lord shall devour from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land. No one shall have peace.


This is your lot, the portion of your measures from Me, says the Lord, because you have forgotten Me and trusted in falsehood.


Because My people have forgotten Me, they have burned incense to vain gods and they have stumbled in their ways from the ancient paths, to walk in bypaths, not on a highway,


Can a virgin forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? Yet My people have forgotten Me for days without number.


Lift up your eyes to the high places, and see! Where have you not been ravished? In the roads you have sat for them as the Arabian in the wilderness. And you have polluted the land with your harlotry and with your wickedness.


They will come with weeping, and with supplications I will lead them. I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters, in a straight way in which they shall not stumble. For I am a Father to Israel, and Ephraim is My firstborn.


Cut off your hair, O Jerusalem, and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on high places, for the Lord has rejected and forsaken the generation of His wrath.


Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because you have forgotten Me and cast Me behind your back, now bear the punishment of your lewdness and your harlotries.


Even when their survivors escape, they shall be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them mourning, every one over his iniquity.


When they had pasture, they were satisfied. They were satisfied, and their heart was exalted; therefore they forgot Me.


Israel has forgotten his maker and built temples, and Judah has multiplied fortified cities; so I will send a fire upon his cities, and it will devour his palaces.


Please hear this, heads of the house of Jacob and rulers of the house of Israel, who detest justice and warp all that is straight,


The angel of the Lord said to him, “Why have you struck your donkey these three times? Behold, I have come out to oppose you, because your way is perverse before Me.


Godly sorrow produces repentance that leads to salvation and brings no regret, but the sorrow of the world produces death.
