Then they sat down to eat. And looking up, they saw a caravan of Ishmaelites coming from Gilead, with their camels bearing spices, balm, and myrrh, carrying it down to Egypt.

Behold, you are beautiful, my beloved! Behold, you are beautiful! Your eyes are like doves perched behind your veil. Your hair is like a flock of goats, leaping down the hills of Gilead.


His legs are pillars of alabaster, set on pedestals of pure gold. His countenance is like Lebanon, choice as the cedars.


For the fortified city shall be desolate, a homestead forlorn and forsaken like a wilderness; there the calf shall graze, and there it shall lie down and eat its branches.


Through your servants you have reproached the Lord and have said, ‘With my many chariots I have come up to the heights of the mountains, to the remotest parts of Lebanon; and I cut down its tall cedars, and its choice fir trees; and I will go to its highest peak, its thickest forest.


Then I said, “Lord, how long?” And He answered: “Until the cities are laid waste without inhabitants, and the houses without man, and the land is utterly desolate,


Concerning the house of the king of Judah, say, Hear the word of the Lord,


But I will punish you according to the fruit of your deeds, says the Lord, and I will kindle a fire in the forest, and it will devour all things around it.


As I live, says the Lord, though Koniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were the signet on My right hand, yet would I pluck you from there.


“Micah of Moresheth prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and spoke to all the people of Judah, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of Hosts: Zion shall be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.’


Destruction upon destruction is proclaimed, for the whole land is devastated. Suddenly are my tents devastated, and my curtains in a moment.


The lion has come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the nations is on his way. He has gone forth from his place to make your land desolate. And your cities shall be laid waste without an inhabitant.


your mother will be sorely humiliated; she who bore you will be ashamed. Behold, she will be the least of the nations, a wilderness, a dry land, and a desert.


Then I will cause to cease from the cities of Judah and from the streets of Jerusalem the voice of laughter and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride; for the land shall become desolate.


Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then has not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?


I will make Jerusalem a heap of ruins and a den of jackals; and I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant.


Therefore, because of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will be mounds of ruins, and the mountain of the house will become wooded heights.


Open your doors, O Lebanon, so the fire can consume your cedar.


Now the Reubenites and the Gadites had a very great number of livestock, and when they saw the land of Jazer and behold, the land of Gilead was a place for livestock,


Let me, I pray, go over and see the good land that is beyond the Jordan, that good hill country, and Lebanon.”
