Since the days of our fathers until this day, we have been in a great guilt. It is because of our iniquities that we, our kings, and our priests have been delivered—by the sword, by captivity, by spoil, and by being shamed—into the hand of the kings of the lands. This day is like that, too.


Let all who serve graven images be put to shame, who boast of idols; worship Him, all you gods.


For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which you have desired, and you shall be humiliated for the gardens that you have chosen.


Behold, all his companions shall be ashamed; and the workmen, they are mere men. Let them all be gathered together; let them stand up, yet they shall fear; they shall be ashamed together.


Those who make a graven image are, all of them, vain, and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they do not see or know, that they may be ashamed.


Why do you go about so much to change your way? You also shall be ashamed of Egypt, as you were ashamed of Assyria.

I will send it out, says the Lord of Hosts, and it will enter the house of the thief, and the house of him who swears falsely by My name. It will remain in his house and consume it, with its timber and stones.”


What fruit did you have then from the things of which you are now ashamed? The result of those things is death.
