The sword of the Lord is filled with blood, it is made full with fatness, and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams. For the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Edom.


There is no peace, says my God, for the wicked.


It shall come to pass if they say to you, “Where should we go?” then you shall tell them: Thus says the Lord: Those destined for death, to death; and those destined for the sword, to the sword; and those destined for the famine, to the famine; and those destined for the captivity, to the captivity.


For thus says the Lord: Do not enter a house of mourning, or go to lament or bemoan them; for I have taken away My peace from this people, says the Lord, even lovingkindness and mercy.


This whole land shall be a desolation and an astonishment, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years.


Lift up your eyes to the high places, and see! Where have you not been ravished? In the roads you have sat for them as the Arabian in the wilderness. And you have polluted the land with your harlotry and with your wickedness.


A voice was heard upon the high places, the weeping and the supplications of the Israelites, because they have perverted their way, they have forgotten the Lord their God.


For thus says the Lord: I have heard a sound of trembling, of fear, and not of peace.


Therefore thus says the Lord: You have not obeyed Me in proclaiming liberty, everyone to his brother and every man to his neighbor. Behold, I proclaim a liberty to you, says the Lord, to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you a terror to all the kingdoms of the earth.


For thus says the Lord: The whole land shall be desolate. Yet I will not make a full end.


For this is the day of the Lord God of Hosts, a day of vengeance, so that He may avenge Himself of His adversaries. And the sword will devour; and it will be satiated and made drunk with their blood; for the Lord God of Hosts has a slaughter in the north country by the Euphrates River.


O sword of the Lord, how long shall you not be quiet? Withdraw into your sheath, rest, and be still.


There is no more praise for Moab; in Heshbon they have devised evil against her: “Come and let us cut it off from being a nation!” Also you will be cut down, O Madmen. The sword will pursue you.


We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of health, but behold, terror!


My soul is bereft of peace; I have forgotten prosperity.


Or if I bring a sword on that land, and say, “Let the sword go through the land and cut off man and beast from it,”


You, son of man, prophesy and say: Thus says the Lord God concerning the Ammonites and concerning their reproach, and say, The sword, the sword is drawn, polished for the slaughter, to cause it to consume that it may be like lightning,


Seeing then that I will cut off from you the righteous and the wicked, therefore My sword shall be drawn from its sheath against all flesh from the south to the north,


Again the word of the Lord came to me, saying:


Son of man, prophesy and say, Thus says the Lord! Say: A sword, a sword is sharpened and also polished!


You shall burn with fire one-third in the midst of the city when the days of the siege are fulfilled. Then you shall take one-third and strike it with the sword all around the city. And one-third you shall scatter in the wind. And I will draw out a sword after them.


I will scatter you among the nations and I will draw out a sword after you. And your land shall be desolate and your cities a waste.


and though they go into captivity before their enemies, from there will I command the sword to slay them. I will set My eyes upon them for evil and not for good.


You also, O Cushites, will be slain by My sword.


I will make My arrows drunk with blood, and My sword shall devour flesh, with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the heads of the leaders of the enemies.


Then another horse that was red went forth. Power was given to him who sat on it to take peace from the earth, causing people to kill one another. Then a great sword was given to him.
