Then they said one to another, “We are guilty concerning our brother, because we saw the anguish of his soul when he pleaded with us, but we would not listen. Therefore, this distress has come upon us.”


And now listen to me. Return the captives whom you have taken captive from your relatives because the burning wrath of the Lord is on you all.”


With the merciful You will show Yourself merciful; with the blameless man You will show Yourself blameless;


Mercy and truth have met together; righteousness and peace have kissed.


He who shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he also will cry out, but will not be heard.


He who oppresses the poor to increase his wealth, and he who gives to the rich, will surely come to poverty.


When its boughs are withered, they are broken off; the women come and make a fire with them, for they are not a people of understanding; therefore, their maker will not have mercy on them, and their Creator will show them no grace.


but let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who exercises lovingkindness, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, says the Lord.


Say to them: As I live, says the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why will you die, O house of Israel?


Who is a God like You, bearing iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of His inheritance? He does not remain angry forever, because He delights in benevolence.


Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.


But if you do not forgive men for their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.


“But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner evil things. But now he is comforted and you are tormented.


“Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you shall be forgiven.


But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.


Behold, the wages that you kept back by fraud from the laborers who harvested your fields are crying, and the cries of those who harvested have entered into the ears of the Lord of Hosts.
