Before the years of famine came, two sons were born to Joseph, whom Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera priest of On, bore to him.


Then he carried into exile to Babylon the remnant, who survived the sword, and they were slaves to him and his sons until the kingdom of Persia ruled,


And the common man bows down, and the great man humbles himself; therefore, do not forgive them.


The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly despoiled, for the Lord has spoken this word.


But they also have erred through wine and stagger from strong drink; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are confused by wine, they stagger from strong drink; they err while having visions, they stumble when rendering judgment.


The common man shall be brought down, and the great man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled.


Ishmael the son of Nethaniah and the ten men that were with him arose and struck Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan with the sword and slew him, whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the land.


For thus says the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel: As My anger and My fury have been poured out upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so will My fury be poured out upon you when you go to Egypt. And you will be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach. And you shall see this place no more.


This was for the sins of her prophets and the iniquities of her priests, who poured out in her midst the blood of the righteous.


The presence of the Lord scattered them; He will regard them no more; they do not respect the priests, nor show favor to the elders.


For the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the sin of Sodom, which was overthrown in a moment, and no hands were wrung for her.


It will be like people, like priest. I will punish them for their ways and reward them for their deeds.
