“Now these are Your servants and Your people, whom You have redeemed by Your great power and by Your strong hand.


They said to God, ‘Depart from us,’ and, ‘What can the Almighty do to us?’


He saved them from the hand of him who hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.


Woe to the rebellious children, says the Lord, who take counsel, but not from Me, and make an alliance, but not of My Spirit, in order to add sin to sin;


they walk down to Egypt and have not asked from My mouth, to strengthen themselves in the safety of Pharaoh and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!


Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, and rely on horses, and trust in chariots because they are many, and in horsemen because they are very strong, but they do not look to the Holy One of Israel nor seek the Lord!


Do not fear, you worm Jacob, and you men of Israel. I will help you, says the Lord and your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.


But now, thus says the Lord who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine.

My sheep wandered through all the mountains and upon every high hill. Indeed, My flock was scattered upon all the face of the earth, and no one searched or sought after them.


Ephraim has surrounded Me with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit. But Judah still walks with God, and is faithful to the Holy One.


As I called them, so they went from Me. They sacrificed to the Baals and burned incense to idols.


They have dealt faithlessly with the Lord, for they have given birth to illegitimate children. Now the New Moon will devour them along with their portion.


When I would heal Israel, the iniquity of Ephraim is revealed, and the wickedness of Samaria. For they deal deceitfully; the thief breaks in; the robbers raid outside,


They make the king glad with their wickedness, and the princes with their lies.


Though they bring up their children, I will bereave them until none are left. Woe to them indeed, when I depart from them!


My God will reject them because they did not listen to Him, and they will be wanderers among the nations.


Then the men were very afraid and said to him, “What is this you have done?” For the men knew that he was fleeing from the presence of the Lord because he had told them.
