Why have You broken down its walls, so that all those who pass by the way pluck its fruit?


Is it not yet a very little while before Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be counted as a forest?


So now I will tell you what I will do to My vineyard: I will take away its hedge, and it shall be consumed; I will break down its wall, and it shall be trodden down.


In that day every place where there were one thousand vines, worth one thousand shekels of silver, shall become briers and thorns.


Therefore I Myself have uncovered your skirts over your face so that your shame may appear.


“Micah of Moresheth prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and spoke to all the people of Judah, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of Hosts: Zion shall be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.’


They will eat up your harvest and your bread which your sons and your daughters should eat. They will eat up your flocks and your herds; they will eat up your vines and your fig trees; they will impoverish your fenced cities, in which you trusted, with the sword.


I will surely consume them, says the Lord. There will be no grapes on the vine nor figs on the fig tree, and the leaf shall fade; and the things that I have given them will pass away from them.


I will attack them like a bear bereaved of her cubs, and will tear open their rib cage. There I will devour them like a lion, as the wild beast would tear them to pieces.


For their mother has played the whore. She that conceived them has acted shamefully. For she said, “I will pursue my lovers, who provide my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, my oil and my drink.”


For I will be like a lion to Ephraim and like a young lion to the house of Judah. I, Myself, will tear and go away. I will carry off, and no one will rescue.


Do not rejoice, O Israel! Do not exult like the peoples, for you have played the whore departing from your God. You have loved a prostitute’s wages on every threshing floor.


Therefore, because of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will be mounds of ruins, and the mountain of the house will become wooded heights.
