5 “Now your two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, who were born to you in the land of Egypt before I came to you in Egypt, are mine; as Reuben and Simeon, they shall be mine.

To Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, whom Asenath the daughter of Potiphera, the priest of On, bore to him.


After this, Joseph was told, “Behold, your father is ill.” So he took his two sons Manasseh and Ephraim with him.


Any children you have after them will be yours and will be called by the names of their brothers in their inheritance.


The waters saw You, O God; the waters saw You, they were afraid; the depths also trembled.


But now, thus says the Lord who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine.


When I passed by you and looked upon you, behold, your time was the time for love. So I spread My garment over you and covered your nakedness. Indeed, I swore to you, and entered into a covenant with you, says the Lord God, and you became Mine.


Thus says the Lord God: This shall be the border by which you shall divide the land for an inheritance according to the twelve tribes of Israel. Joseph shall have two portions.


You shall be holy unto Me, for I the Lord am holy and have separated you from other peoples, that you should be Mine.


They shall be Mine, says the Lord of Hosts, on the day when I prepare My special possession. And I will spare them as a man spares his son who serves him.


of the sons of Joseph: of Ephraim, Elishama the son of Ammihud; of Manasseh, Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur;


“I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”


He predestined us to adoption as sons to Himself through Jesus Christ according to the good pleasure of His will,


By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph and worshipped while leaning on the top of his staff.


So now, divide this land as an inheritance for the nine tribes and the half-tribe of Manasseh.”


The descendants of Joseph were two tribes: Manasseh and Ephraim. They did not give territory to the Levites in the land, but only towns in which to live, along with the pastures, livestock, and property.
