They took Joseph’s coat and killed a young goat and dipped the coat in the blood.


All his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted. And he said, “For I will go down into the grave mourning for my son.” So his father wept for him.


They came to Jacob their father in the land of Canaan and told him all that had happened to them, saying,


Then Jacob their father said to them, “You have bereaved me of my children! Joseph is no more, Simeon is no more, and you will take Benjamin away. All these things are against me.”


But Jacob said, “My son must not go down with you, for his brother is dead, and he alone is left. If harm should happen to him on the journey you are to make, then you will bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.”


And the one went out from me, and I said, “Surely he was torn in pieces,” and I have not seen him since.


They went up out of Egypt and came to the land of Canaan to Jacob their father.


Israel said to Joseph, “I never expected to see your face; and behold, God has let me see your children also.”


If I mocked at them, they did not believe it, and the light of my countenance they did not cast down.


If I called, and He answered me, I would not believe that He had listened to my voice.


He made him lord of his house and ruler of all his possessions,


When the Lord brought back the captives of Zion, we were like those who dream.


“When my life was ebbing away, I remembered the Lord; and my prayer came to You, into Your holy temple.


But their words seemed like fables to them, and they did not believe them.


saying, “The Lord has risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!”


And while they yet disbelieved for joy and wondered, He said to them, “Do you have any food here?”
