But Abram said, “Lord God, what will You give me, seeing I am childless and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?”


He said, “My Lord, if I have found favor in Your sight, do not pass by Your servant.


Behold, your servant has found grace in your eyes, and you have shown your mercy, which you have shown to me by saving my life. However, I cannot escape to the mountain. Otherwise some evil will overtake me, and I will die.


So Abraham said to his servant, the oldest of his household, who was in charge over all that he had, “Please, place your hand under my thigh,


I have oxen and donkeys, flocks, and male servants and female servants, and I am sending this message to tell my lord, so that I may find favor in your sight.’ ”


Jacob said, “No, I pray you, if I have now found favor in your sight, then receive my gift from my hand. For I have seen your face, and it is as though I have seen the face of God, with you having received me favorably.


Esau said, “What do you mean by all this company that I met?” Jacob answered, “These are to find favor in the sight of my lord.”


But he refused and said to his master’s wife, “Behold, because of me my master does not concern himself with anything in the house, and he has committed all that he has to my charge.


His servant Zimri, commander of half his chariots, conspired against him, and when he was in Tirzah, drinking himself drunk in the house of Arza, manager of his house in Tirzah,


Because the young lady appeared pleasing to him and had gained favor in his sight, he quickly gave her the ointments and cosmetics, her allotted food, and seven young chosen women from the king’s palace. He also transferred her and her young women to the best place of the harem.


The favor of the king is toward a wise servant, but his wrath falls on him who brings shame.


When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.


A wise servant will rule over a son who causes shame, and will share the inheritance among the brothers.


Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men.


He who tends the fig tree will eat its fruit; so he who waits on his master will be honored.


So will you find favor and high regard in the sight of God and man.


Therefore take heed to yourselves and to the entire flock, over which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.


So the servant who was in charge of his harvesters answered, “She is the young Moabitess woman who came back with Naomi from the land of Moab.


Saul sent to Jesse, saying, “Let David stand before me, for he has found favor in my sight.”


Now the boy Samuel was growing both in stature and favor with the Lord and also with men.
