For I was indeed kidnapped out of the land of the Hebrews, and I have done nothing that they should put me in the dungeon.”


Surely the wrath of man shall praise You; with the remainder of wrath You will gird Yourself.


By oppression and judgment he was taken away, and who shall declare his generation? For he was cut off out of the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was struck.


Therefore the officials were wrathful with Jeremiah, and struck him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe; for they had made that the prison.


in which I suffer trouble like a criminal, even with chains. But the word of God is not bound.


Still others had trials of mocking and scourging, and even chains and imprisonment.


For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God a person endures grief, suffering unjustly.
