So he returned to Judah and said, “I cannot find her. Also, the men of the place said there was no cult prostitute in this place.”


After about three months, it was told Judah, “Tamar your daughter-in-law has turned to prostitution, and what is more, as a result of prostitution she is pregnant.” Then Judah said, “Bring her forth, and let her be burned!”


Why have you despised the word of the Lord by doing evil in His sight? You struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and you took his wife as a wife for yourself. You killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.


Wounds and dishonor will he get, and his reproach will not be wiped away.


What fruit did you have then from the things of which you are now ashamed? The result of those things is death.


But we have renounced the secret things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by expressing the truth and commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.


For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.


“Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches and keeps his garments on, lest he walk naked and his shame be exposed.”
