and said to the servant, “Who is this man walking in the field to meet us?” The servant said, “It is my master.” Therefore she took a veil and covered herself.


When Judah saw her, he thought she was a prostitute, because she had covered her face.


She arose and went away, and taking off her veil, she put on her widow’s clothing.


Judah recognized them and said, “She has been more righteous than I, because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” He did not have relations with her again.


And behold, a woman met him, with the attire of a prostitute and with crafty intent.


Now she is in the streets, now in the markets, lying in wait at every corner.


Lift up your eyes to the high places, and see! Where have you not been ravished? In the roads you have sat for them as the Arabian in the wilderness. And you have polluted the land with your harlotry and with your wickedness.


You have built yourself a high place at the head of every street, and have made your beauty to be abhorred, and have spread your legs to every passerby to multiply your harlotries.
