25 On the third day, when they were in pain, two of Jacob’s sons, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers, took their swords and went to the unsuspecting city and killed all the males.

They killed Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword and took Dinah out of the house of Shechem and departed.


But Hezekiah did not make recompense for what was given to him because his heart was proud. So divine anger was on him, Judah, and Jerusalem.


For they do not sleep unless they have done evil; their sleep is taken away unless they make someone stumble.


So now kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known a man by lying with him.


They waged war against the Midianites, as the Lord commanded Moses, and they killed every male.


The Israelites had traveled forty years in the wilderness until all the people, the men of fighting age who came out of Egypt, died, because they did not obey the Lord. The Lord had sworn not to let them see the land that He had sworn to their fathers to give to us, a land flowing with milk and honey.


So when the entire people was completely circumcised, they stayed where they were in the camp until they healed.
