10 I am not worthy of all the lovingkindness and of all the faithfulness which You have shown to Your servant. For with my staff I crossed over this Jordan, and now I have become two encampments.

Abraham answered and said, “Behold, I who am but dust and ashes have taken it upon myself to speak to the Lord.


Then he said, “O  Lord, the God of my master Abraham, please let me have success this day and show kindness to my master Abraham.


And he said, “Blessed be the Lord God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken His mercy and His truth toward my master. As for me, the Lord led me to the house of my master’s relatives.”


And behold, the Lord stood above it and said, “I am the Lord God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac. The land on which you lie, to you will I give it and to your descendants.


Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. For I will not leave you until I have done what I promised you.”


The man became exceedingly prosperous and had many sheep and female servants and male servants and camels and donkeys.


Then the Lord said to Jacob, “Return to the land of your fathers, to your family, and I will be with you.”


I have oxen and donkeys, flocks, and male servants and female servants, and I am sending this message to tell my lord, so that I may find favor in your sight.’ ”


Then Jacob was very afraid and distressed, and he divided the people that were with him, along with the flocks and herds and the camels, into two groups.


David came to Mahanaim as Absalom crossed the Jordan, he and every Israelite with him.


Then King David went in and sat before the Lord. He said, “Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my house that You have brought me this far?


The righteous also will hold to his way, and he who has clean hands will be stronger and stronger.


Though your beginning was small, your end will increase greatly.


I have said to the Lord, “You are my Lord; my welfare has no existence outside of You.”


You have given me the shield of Your salvation, and Your right hand has held me up, and Your gentleness has made me great.


May he sit enthroned before God forever; appoint mercy and truth to guard him.


For You have made him a little lower than the angels, and crowned him with glory and honor.


They go from strength to strength; every one of them appears in Zion before God.


Mercy and truth have met together; righteousness and peace have kissed.


But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until the full daytime.


And I said: “Woe is me! For I am undone because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips. For my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of Hosts.”


I will mention the steadfast love of the Lord and the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord has bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which He has bestowed on them according to His mercy, and according to the multitude of His kindnesses.


You will give faithfulness to Jacob and benevolence to Abraham, which You swore to our fathers from the days of old.


So you also, when you have done everything commanded you, say, ‘We are unprofitable servants. We have done our duty.’ ”


When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.”


I have become a fool in boasting. You have compelled me, for I ought to have been commended by you, for I am in no way inferior to the leading apostles, though I am nothing.


But you must remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to get wealth, so that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is today.


Likewise you younger ones, submit yourselves to the elders. Yes, all of you be submissive one to another and clothe yourselves with humility, because “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
