So after Abram had been living for ten years in the land of Canaan, Sarai, his wife, took Hagar her maid, the Egyptian, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife.


Laban gave Zilpah his maid to his daughter Leah for a maidservant.


She conceived again and gave birth to a son, and she said, “Now I will praise the Lord!” Therefore she called his name Judah. Then she stopped giving birth.


Zilpah, Leah’s maid, gave Jacob a son.


God listened to Leah, and she conceived and gave Jacob a fifth son.


So she gave him Bilhah her maidservant as a wife, and Jacob had relations with her.


Then Rachel said, “With great wrestling have I wrestled with my sister, and I have prevailed.” So she called his name Naphtali.


These were the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to Leah his daughter; and these she bore to Jacob, sixteen in all.
