Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in hardship.”


When the king’s decree that he shall make is proclaimed throughout all his empire (for it is vast), then all the wives shall give honor to their husbands, both the prominent and lowly.”


Trembling took hold of them there, and pain, as of a woman in labor,


and they shall be afraid. Pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman who travails; they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.


Therefore, my loins are filled with pain; pangs have taken hold of me as the pangs of a woman who travails. I am so perplexed at the hearing of it; I am so dismayed at the seeing of it.


He shall see of the anguish of his soul and be satisfied. By his knowledge My righteous servant shall justify the many, for he shall bear their iniquities.


What will you say when He appoints over you those you yourself had taught to be companions to you? Shall not sorrows take hold of you, as a woman in labor?


O inhabitant of Lebanon, who makes your nest in the cedars, how you will groan when pangs come upon you, the pain as of a woman in labor!


For I have heard a voice as of a woman in labor, and the anguish as of her who brings forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, that bewails herself, that spreads her hands, saying, “Ah, woe is me, for my soul is wearied because of murderers.”


Damascus has become helpless; she has turned away to flee, and panic has seized her. Anguish and sorrows have seized her as a woman in labor.


“We have heard the report of it; our hands grow feeble. Anguish has taken hold of us, and pain as of a woman in labor.


Every vow, and every binding oath to afflict her soul, her husband may establish, or her husband may nullify.


When a woman is giving birth, she has pain, because her hour has come. But as soon as she delivers the child, she no longer remembers the anguish for joy that a child is born into the world.


But I would have you know that the head of the woman is the man, the head of every man is Christ, and the head of Christ is God.


Let your women remain silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak. They are commanded to be under obedience, as the law also says.


The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise, the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.


Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands, as it is fitting in the Lord.


When they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor upon a woman with child, and they shall not escape.


For Adam was formed first, then Eve.


Yet she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.


and to be self-controlled, pure, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be dishonored.
