Now there was a famine in the land, so Abram went down to Egypt to live there, for the famine was severe in the land.


After the death of Abraham, God blessed his son Isaac. Isaac lived at Beer Lahai Roi.


Then Jacob gave Esau bread and lentil stew. Then he ate and drank, arose, and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.


Thus the sons of Israel came to buy grain among those who came, for the famine was in the land of Canaan.


Now the famine was severe in the land.


Now there was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year; and David called upon the Lord. The Lord said, “There is blood guilt upon Saul and upon his house because he put the Gibeonites to death.”


Then the Lord said to Moses, “Depart, go up from here, you and the people whom you have brought up from the land of Egypt, to the land which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, ‘To your descendants I will give it.’


In the days when the judges ruled, there was a famine in the land. And a man from Bethlehem in Judah went to live in the land of Moab, he and his wife and his two sons.
