Then God said, “No, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call his name Isaac. I will establish My covenant with him as an everlasting covenant and with his descendants after him.


But I will establish My covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you at this set time next year.”


Abraham said, “Because I thought, surely there is no fear of God in this place, and they will slay me because of my wife.


Then Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.


These are the generations of Isaac, Abraham’s son. Abraham was the father of Isaac.


But to the sons of his concubines Abraham gave gifts, and while he was still living, he sent them away from his son Isaac eastward to the east country.


Cast out the scoffer, and contention will leave; indeed, strife and shame will cease.


“Then the king told the attendants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’


Now a slave does not remain in the house forever, but a son remains forever.


For if the inheritance comes from the law, it no longer comes from the promise. But God gave it to Abraham through a promise.


Therefore you are no longer a servant, but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.


to an incorruptible and undefiled inheritance that does not fade away, kept in heaven for you,


They went out from us, but they were not of us, for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have remained with us. But they went out, revealing that none of them were of us.


Gilead’s wife also bore him sons. His wife’s sons grew up and drove Jephthah away. They said to him, “You will not inherit anything from our father’s house because you are the son of another woman.”
