Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children, and she had a maidservant, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar.


He went in to Hagar, and she conceived. When she saw that she had conceived, she began to despise her mistress.


Then the angel of the Lord said to her, “Return to your mistress, and submit yourself to her authority.”


And God heard the boy’s voice. Then the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven and said to her, “What is the matter with you, Hagar? Do not be afraid, for God has heard the voice of the boy where he is.


The Lord God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?”


And then He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood is crying out to Me from the ground.


When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood in the entrance to the cave. And behold, a voice came to him and said, “Why are you here, Elijah?”


He came to a cave and camped there. And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and He said to him, “Why are you here, Elijah?”


Then he entered and stood before his master. And Elisha said to him, “Where have you come from, Gehazi?” And he said, “Your servant went here and there.”


If the angry spirit of the ruler rises against you, do not leave your position, for calmness pacifies great offenses.


He looked up and saw the traveler in the city square. The old man said, “Where are you going, and where do you come from?”


Now please let my lord king hear the words of his servant. If the Lord has stirred you up against me, let Him accept an offering. But if it was the sons of men, cursed are they before the Lord. For they have driven me today from having a share in the inheritance of the Lord, saying, ‘Go, serve other gods.’
