Now the Valley of Siddim was full of tar pits, and as the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, some fell in them, and the rest fled to the hill country.


Make an ark of cypress wood for yourself. Make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch.

The canals shall emit a stench; the streams of Egypt shall diminish and dry up; the reeds and rushes shall wither.


The parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water; in the habitation of jackals where each lay, there shall be grass with reeds and rushes.

Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, was utterly furious and sent forth and killed all the male children who were in Bethlehem and the surrounding region, from two years old and under, based on the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men.


He dealt deceitfully with our people and mistreated our fathers, forcing them to expose their infants, so that they would not live.
