He who is slow to anger is of great understanding, but he who is hasty in temper exalts folly.


An angry man stirs up strife, but he who is slow to anger pacifies a quarrel.


He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.


He who is greedy stirs up strife, but he who trusts in the Lord will prosper.


A good name is better than precious oil, and the day of one’s death than one’s birth.


“But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner evil things. But now he is comforted and you are tormented.


In your endurance you will gain your souls.


But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith,

For you need patience, so that after you have done the will of God, you will receive the promise.


Behold, we consider them blessed who endure. You have heard of the patience of Job and have seen the purpose of the Lord, that the Lord is very gracious and merciful.


You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is drawing near.


Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be sober, and set your hope fully upon the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
