And as he grew strong, his heart grew more proud, leading to his destruction. Then he acted unfaithfully against the Lord his God, for he entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar.


“Should not the multitude of words be answered? And should a man full of talk be justified?


“Is not God in the height of heaven? And see the height of the stars, how high they are!


God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the holy ones, and awesome above all who are around Him.


He said, “Do not come near. Remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.”


You must also make a basin of bronze, with its base also of bronze, for washing, and you must put it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and you must put water in it.


When words are many, sin is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is wise.


The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is His delight.


The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination; how much more when he brings it with evil intent!


He who kills a bull is as if he kills a man; he who sacrifices a lamb, as if he breaks a dog’s neck; he who offers a grain offering, as if he offers swine’s blood; he who burns incense, as if he blesses an idol. They have chosen their own ways, and their soul delights in their abominations;


Then Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the Lord spoke, saying: ‘I will be sanctified by those who come near Me; and before all the people I will be glorified.’ ” And Aaron held his peace.


So immediately I sent for you, and you have done well to come. Now therefore we are all here, present before God, to hear everything the Lord has commanded you.”


These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with all eagerness, daily examining the Scriptures, to find out if these things were so.


What? Do you not have houses to eat and to drink in? Or do you despise the church of God and shame those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you in this? I do not praise you.


For if we willfully continue to sin after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,


Therefore, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger,


The commander of the army of the Lord said to Joshua, “Remove your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy.” So Joshua did this.
