He said to him, “Did my heart not go with you when the man turned from his chariot to meet you? Is it a time to take money, and to take garments, olives and vineyards, sheep and oxen, male and female servants?


And when he was distressed, he entreated the face of the Lord his God, and he greatly humbled himself before the God of his fathers.


A man has joy in the apt reply of his mouth, and a timely word spoken, how good it is!


Set in order your outside work, make it ready for yourself in the field, and afterwards build your house.


I set my heart to seek and to investigate with wisdom everything that is done under heaven. It is a burdensome task that God has given to humanity to be occupied with.


So I began to hate life, because the labor that was done under the sun was contemptible to me, for all of this is vanity and a chasing after wind.


I investigated how to cheer up my body with wine, while my heart was still guiding me with wisdom, in order to grasp folly, until I might experience what is good for people to do under heaven during the number of days that they might have life.


I thought in my heart: “God will bring judgment to the righteous and the wicked, for there is an appropriate time for every matter and deed.”


In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: God has made the one as well as the other, so that people may not find out anything that comes after them.


They cried there, “Pharaoh king of Egypt is a tumult. He has let the time appointed pass by!”


and in the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and overcast.’ O you hypocrites, you can discern the appearance of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times.
