I am now eighty years old. Can I discern what is pleasant from what is harmful? Can your servant taste what I eat and what I drink? Can I still hear the voices of men and women who sing? Why, then, should your servant be a burden to my lord the king?


She gave the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold and a great amount of spices and precious stones. No one gave as many spices as the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.


Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and sixty-six talents of gold.


All of King Solomon’s drinking cups were made of gold, and all the cups of the House of the Forest of Lebanon were made of pure gold. None were made of silver, for it was not considered valuable in the days of Solomon.


He had seven hundred wives who were princesses and three hundred concubines, and his wives turned his heart away.


King Rehoboam replaced them with bronze shields and committed them to the hands of the chief of the guard who guarded the king’s house.


Hiram sent to the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold.
