The people asked, and He brought quail, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.


Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and shepherd faithfulness.


But He answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’ ”


Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’ ”


I have led you forty years in the wilderness. Your clothes have not worn out on you, and your sandal has not worn out on your foot.


You have not eaten bread, nor have you drunk wine or strong drink, so that you might know that I am the Lord your God.


For it is no idle word for you, because it is your life, and by this word you will prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to possess.”


When I went up into the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant which the Lord made with you, then I remained on the mountain forty days and forty nights. I did not eat bread or drink water.
