And God heard the boy’s voice. Then the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven and said to her, “What is the matter with you, Hagar? Do not be afraid, for God has heard the voice of the boy where he is.


Leah conceived and gave birth to a son, and she called his name Reuben, for she said, “Surely the Lord has looked upon my affliction. Now therefore my husband will love me.”


Perhaps today the Lord will look upon my guilt and return kindness instead of his cursing.”


Look upon me and be merciful to me, as is Your manner toward those who love Your name.


and have not delivered me into the hand of the enemy; You have set my feet in a broad place.


Call on Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will glorify Me.”


In the passing of time, the king of Egypt died. And the Israelites sighed because of the bondage, and they cried out, and their cry came up to God on account of the bondage.


God looked on the Israelites, and God had concern for them.


And now behold, the cry of the Israelites has come to Me. Moreover, I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians are oppressing them.


And the people believed. And when they heard that the Lord had visited the Israelites and that He had looked on their affliction, they bowed down and worshipped.


I have also heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage, and I have remembered My covenant.


Thus says the Lord, the maker of the earth, the Lord who formed it to establish it; the Lord is His name:


“Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man out of the land of Benjamin. And you will anoint him to be leader over My people Israel, that he may save My people out of the hand of the Philistines. For I have looked upon My people, because their cry has come unto Me.”
