Moreover, in those days I also saw Jews who had married the women of Ashdod, Ammon, and Moab.


Now Tobiah the Ammonite was beside him, and he said, “What they are rebuilding, if even a fox climbed up it, he would break down their stone wall!”


When Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabians, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard how the restoration of Jerusalem’s walls was progressing and how the breaches had begun to be sealed, it made them extremely furious.


Do not let the son of the foreigner who has joined himself to the Lord speak, saying, “The Lord has utterly separated me from His people”; do not let the eunuch say, “Behold, I am a dry tree.”


Concerning the Ammonites: Thus says the Lord: Does Israel have no sons? Or has he no heirs? Why then does their king inherit Gad and his people dwell in his cities?


The adversary has spread his hand over all her precious things; for she has seen the nations enter her sanctuary, those whom You commanded not to enter Your congregation.


“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’


No one of illegitimate birth may enter the assembly of the Lord. Even to his tenth generation no one related to him may enter the assembly of the Lord.


The redeemer replied, “I am not able to redeem it for myself lest I ruin my own inheritance. Take my redemption rights for yourself, for I cannot do it.”
