So Esau settled in the hill country of Seir. Esau is Edom.


These are the generations of Esau the father of the Edomites in the hill country of Seir.


I have made the earth, the men, and the beasts which are on the ground by My great power and by My outstretched arm, and have given it to whom it seemed good to Me.


Son of man, set your face against Mount Seir and prophesy against it,


You shall be driven away from men, and your dwelling shall be with the wild animals. You shall be given grass to eat like oxen, and wet with the dew of heaven. And seven times shall pass over you, until you have learned that the Most High rules over the kingdom of men and gives it to whomever He chooses.

just as He had done for the sons of Esau, who lived in Seir, when He destroyed the Horites from before them, and they dispossessed them, and lived in their place even to this day.


You may buy food from them with money so that you may eat, and you may also buy water from them with money so that you may drink.


When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance, when He separated the sons of man, He set the boundaries of the peoples according to the number of the Israelites.


To Isaac I gave Jacob and Esau, and to Esau I gave Mount Seir for his inheritance, but Jacob and his descendants went down into Egypt.
