2 This is the manner of the relinquishing: Every creditor that has loaned anything to his neighbor shall relinquish it. He shall not exact it of his neighbor, or of his brother, because it is called the Lord’s relinquishment.

If the people of the land bring merchandise or any grain on the Sabbath day to sell, we will not buy from them on the Sabbath or a holy day. We will also renounce the seventh year harvest and the full payment of every debt.


“Why have we fasted and You do not see? Why have we humbled ourselves and You take no notice?” Behold, in the day of your fast you find your desire and are exacting on all your laborers.


And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.


When they had no money to pay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?”


At the end of every seven years you shall grant a relinquishing of debts.


You may collect it from a foreigner, but that which your brother has that is yours your hand shall release.
