Deuteronomy 12:9

“Blessed be the Lord who has given rest to His people Israel according to all that He promised. Not one word of His promises which He gave by the hand of Moses His servant has failed.


For David said, “The Lord, the God of Israel, has given rest to His people, and He dwells in Jerusalem forever.


Therefore I swore in My wrath, “They shall not enter My rest.”


Thus says the Lord: The people who survived the sword found grace in the wilderness, when I went to give Israel rest.


Get up and go, for this is not the resting place, because uncleanness ruins, and ruin sickens.


You are not to do all the things that we are doing here today, where every man does whatever is right in his own eyes.


Therefore it shall be, when the Lord your God has given you rest from all your surrounding enemies, in the land which the Lord your God is giving you for an inheritance to possess, that you must blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven. You must not forget it.


until the Lord has given rest to your brothers, as well as to you, and until they also possess the land which the Lord your God has given them beyond the Jordan. Then each of you shall return to his possession which I have given you.”


Furthermore, the Lord was angry with me because of you and swore that I should not cross over the Jordan, and that I would not go into that good land which the Lord your God is giving you for an inheritance.


So Joshua took the whole land according to all that the Lord had said to Moses. Joshua gave it to Israel as an inheritance according to their allotted portions by their tribes. Then the land rested from war.
