You shall put into the ark the testimony which I shall give you.


You shall put the mercy seat above upon the ark, and in the ark you shall put the testimony that I will give you.


Moses turned and went down from the mountain with the two tablets of testimony in his hand. The tablets were written on both their sides. They were written on one side and on the other.


So he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights. He did not eat bread or drink water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.


When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of testimony in the hands of Moses, when he came down from the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him.


He took the testimony and put it into the ark, attached the poles to the ark, and put the mercy seat on top of the ark.


I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets which you broke, and you shall put them in the ark.”


So I returned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire, and the two tablets of the covenant were in my two hands.


Joshua also set twelve stones in the middle of the Jordan at the place where the feet of the priests who carried the ark of the covenant were standing. The stones are there to this day.
