Moses went into the midst of the cloud and went up to the mountain. And Moses was on the mountain for forty days and forty nights.


Then the Lord relented of the harm which He said He would do to His people.


The Lord said to Moses, “I will do this thing of which you have spoken, for you have found favor in My sight, and I know you by name.”


So he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights. He did not eat bread or drink water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.


“He saved others. He cannot save Himself. If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him.


The Lord said to me, “Arise, take your journey before the people, so that they may go in and possess the land which I swore to give to their fathers.”


So I fell down before the Lord forty days and forty nights; I fell down because the Lord had said He would destroy you.
