8 Therefore the male goat grew very great. And when he was strong, the great horn was broken, and four conspicuous horns came up in its place toward the four winds of heaven.

And as he grew strong, his heart grew more proud, leading to his destruction. Then he acted unfaithfully against the Lord his God, for he entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar.


For Mordecai had become great in the king’s house, and his fame went out throughout all the provinces because Mordecai grew more powerful.


Upon Elam I will bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will scatter them toward all those winds. And there will be no nation where the outcasts of Elam will not go.


As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit. Therefore they have become great and rich.


I have caused you to multiply as the bud of the field, and you have increased and become tall, and you have reached the age of fine ornaments. Your breasts were fashioned and your hair had grown, yet you were naked and bare.


Will you yet say before him who slays you, “I am a god,” although you are a man and not God, in the hands of those who wound you?


When he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven, but not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion which he ruled. For his kingdom shall be plucked up, even for others besides them.


While the word was in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven: “O King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: The kingdom has departed from you!


But when his heart was lifted up and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne and they took his glory from him.


Daniel spoke and said: I saw in my vision by night, and behold, the four winds of the heaven were striving upon the Mediterranean Sea.


After this I looked, and behold, there was another, like a leopard, which had on its back four wings of a fowl. The beast also had four heads. And dominion was given to it.


Now the broken horn and the four horns that stood up in its place are four kingdoms that shall stand up out of his nation, but not with his power.


As I was considering this, behold, a male goat came from the west across the face of the whole earth and did not touch the ground. And the goat had a notable horn between his eyes.


I saw him come close to the ram, and he was moved with rage against him, and struck the ram and broke his two horns. And there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground and stamped on him. And there was none who could deliver the ram out of his hand.


And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.


Then He will send His angels and gather His elect from the four winds, from the farthest part of the earth to the farthest part of heaven.


For when I have brought them into the land which I swore to their fathers, flowing with milk and honey, and they have eaten, and filled themselves, and become fat, then they will turn to other gods, and serve them, and provoke Me, and break My covenant.


Then I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind would not blow on the earth or on the sea or on any tree.
