Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh and went throughout all the land of Egypt.


Happy are your men, and happy are these your servants who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom!


His allowance was a regular allowance given him by the king every day, all the days of his life.


How happy your men must be! How happy these servants, those who are continually before you listening to your wisdom.


Be not desirous of his delicacies, for they are deceitful food.


Therefore thus says the Lord: If you return, then I will bring you back, and you shall stand before Me; and if you take out the precious from the worthless, you will be My spokesman. Let them return to you, but do not return to them.


The king spoke with them, and, among them all, none was found like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. Therefore they served before the king.


But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s food, nor with the wine which he drank. Therefore he requested of the master of the officials that he might not defile himself.


Give us this day our daily bread.


The angel answered him, “I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God. And I was sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news.


Give us each day our daily bread.


Therefore watch always and pray that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will happen and to stand before the Son of Man.”
