Though his loftiness extends to the heavens, and his head reaches to the clouds,


And you say, ‘What does God know? Can He judge through the dark cloud?


He gives them security, and they rely on it; yet His eyes are on their ways.


The underworld is naked before Him, and destruction has no covering.


There is no darkness nor shadow of death where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.


They shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, from the fear of the Lord, and from the glory of His majesty, when He shall arise to shake the earth mightily.


As for the terror of you, the pride of your heart has deceived you, O you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, who hold the height of the hill. Though you make your nest as high as the eagle, I will bring you down from there, says the Lord.


Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from Me will destroyers come to her, says the Lord.


then I shall bring you down with those who descend into the pit, to the people of old, and make you dwell in the lower parts of the earth, in places desolate of old, with those who go down to the pit so that you will not be inhabited. But I shall set glory in the land of the living.


to the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves for their height, or shoot up their tops among the clouds, or their well-watered trees stand up in their height, for they all have been delivered to death, to the nether parts of the earth in the midst of the sons of men, with those who go down to the pit.


Though you ascend high like the eagle, and though you set your nest among the stars, I will bring you down from there, says the Lord.
