He struck the Philistines as far as Gaza and its territory, from watchtower to fortified city.


He went out to make war with the Philistines, and he broke through the walls at Gath and Jabneh and Ashdod. Then he built cities in Ashdod and among the Philistines.


The word of the Lord which came to Jeremiah the prophet against the Philistines, before Pharaoh conquered Gaza.


Baldness has come upon Gaza; Ashkelon has been cut off. O remnant of their valley, how long shall you gash yourself?


They shall know that I am the Lord when I have set a fire in Egypt and when all her helpers are destroyed.


I will send a fire on Magog and among those who dwell safely in the coastlands. Then they shall know that I am the Lord.


So I will send fire against the house of Hazael, and it will devour the fortresses of Ben-hadad.


Thus says the Lord: For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment, because they carried away into exile an entire deportation, to deliver them up to Edom.


From Ashdod I will cut off the one enthroned and from Ashkelon the one who holds the scepter. I will turn My hand against Ekron, and the remnant of the Philistines will perish, says the Lord God.


For Gaza will be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation; Ashdod will be driven out at noon, and Ekron will be uprooted.


Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to God’s wrath, for it is written: “Vengeance is Mine. I will repay,” says the Lord.


Vengeance is Mine, and recompense; their foot will slip in due time; for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things to come hasten upon them.
