He who escapes the sword of Hazael will be killed by Jehu, and he who escapes the sword of Jehu will be killed by Elisha.


The anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, so He gave them into the hand of Hazael king of Aram and into the hand of Ben-hadad the son of Hazael all their days.


So Jehoahaz had only fifty horsemen, ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen left, for the king of Aram had destroyed them and made them like the dust at threshing.


So the king of Assyria listened to him. The king of Assyria went up to Damascus, captured it, exiled the people to Kir, and killed Rezin.


Hazael said, “Why are you weeping, my lord?” He said, “Because I know the evil that you will do to the Israelites. You will set their fortresses on fire. You will kill their young men with the sword. You will smash their children and rip open their pregnant women.”


These ten times you have reproached me; you are not ashamed that you have wronged me.


In six crises He will deliver you; even in seven, disaster will not touch you.


There are six things that the Lord hates, seven are an abomination to Him:


Give a portion to seven, or even eight, investments, for you do not know what calamity might occur on earth.


For the dill is not threshed with a threshing instrument, nor is a cartwheel driven over the cumin; but the dill is beaten out with a staff, and the cumin with a rod.


Behold, I will make you a new sharp threshing instrument with double edges; you shall thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shall make the hills as chaff.


For before the child shall know to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land that you dread shall be forsaken of both her kings.


For the head of Aram is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin. Now within sixty-five years Ephraim shall be broken so that it is not a people.


For before the child knows how to cry “My father” and “My mother,” the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria.

Thus says the Lord: For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment, because they sell the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of sandals.


An oracle of the word of the Lord that is against the land of Hadrak, and Damascus is the place where it will rest. For the eyes of men and the tribes of Israel are on the Lord.


Also Hamath borders it, even Tyre and Sidon, cities that are very wise.
